Phantom Stallion E-Newsletter February 2008

Welcome

Welcome to the "Phantom Stallion" E-Newsletter.

Happy Leap Year everyone! Every four years, we are lucky enough to have a whole extra day in February. We know Terri Farley is going to be using her extra day to write (as she does with most of her days).

So why do we have Leap Years anyway? Leap years are needed to match up with the earth's motion around the sun. One year, or one of the earth's trips around the sun, is actually 365.24 days. That's about six extra hours a year. So after 100 years, our calendar would be 24 days ahead of the seasons and after 300 years, we would be two whole months ahead of the seasons! So, in the 16th century, one day was added to every four years and that's how we get a February 29!

So we want to know: what are you doing with your extra day this year? You could have a picnic with your friends (assuming your town didn't get hit by the biggest snowstorm of the year), build a snowman (assuming it did get hit with some snow!), bake some cookies or even read a new book. Send us your plans for your extra day this year and it may be posted on the Phantom Web site. As always, please be sure to get your parents' permission first. We will post your first name, state and Leap Day plans.

Want to share your love for the Phantom Stallion books? E-mail your friends a Phantom Stallion e-postcard of your choice.

Finally, take a look at the Phantom Stallion photo album and check out Terri's new photos!

Happy trails!

This just in . . .

Terri was featured in an article in the Reno Gazette-Journal. The article, covering up-and-coming authors, showcased Terri and her two Phantom Stallion series. It was very inspirational for anyone who has a dream of publishing their own books. To read the full article, click here.

Well, it's a new month and after a huge storm crashed down on the entire west, the sun is shining again. As soon as we can escape, Blaze and I are going to head out for a romp in the snow. It's light and feathery and nice to play in and, better than that, if we slip out, Gram won't be able to drop any more hints that I need to clean my room. Since I already water-proofed everyone's boots, I'd say I've done my housework for the day. And Blaze agrees, even if no one else does . . .
